Inpress Plastics Limited contributed to the production of the guide to the Safe Management of Healthcare Waste published by the Department of Health (Health Technical Memorandum HTM-07-01) in 2006.
The guide was updated in 2011 and is now known as the 'Safe management of healthcare waste (updated version)'. The guide provides a framework for good practice to all producers of healthcare waste relating to its safe segregation and correct methods of disposal. You can download the guide here.
Inpress Plastics Limited responded to the guidelines by providing a range of colour-coded containers to help customers introduce the Department of Health's recommendations. The SHARPAK® range of colour coded sharps containers assist healthcare professionals to safely segregate and dispose of this type of healthcare waste in accordance with the best practice recommendations.
We also recognise that some hospitals/Trusts already have their own preferred colour codes for specific waste types and are always pleased to try and accommodate specific requirements.
SHARPAK sharps containers consist of three key groups: - Code Orange, Code Yellow and Code Purple - plus a Code Blue for the export market.
